WHAT DO AUCKLAND’S WATER RESTRICTIONS MEAN?
In Auckland, the use of garden hoses has been banned, but don’t worry you can use the Alderson Sander connected to your garden hose.
One of the many reasons why people use the Alderson Sander is because the use of water ensures that there is no toxic or for that matter, any dust produced. Toxic dust, especially produced during the removal of lead based paint, is classified as a health risk and so for health & safety reasons people prefer to use our sander. T
WaterCare have confirmed to us, that the use of water for health & safety reasons, is not covered by Auckland’s water restrictions. (See below for documentation)
Auckland Watercare would prefer you to use non-potable water if possible, so if you wish, you could install a rainwater tank and connect that up to your Alderson Sander. You will need at least a 5,000 litre tank to provide enough water to strip an average sized house. The water tank could then provide water for the garden and cleaning the car once the house has been stripped or sanded. Note: 5,000 litres sounds a lot but it would only cost $7.70 at current WaterCare rates to fill, if there were no water restrictions.
